We visited the Bavarian Regional Horticultural Exhibition Kircheim 2024 with Andrej and our granddaughter Freja (2.5 years) on 13. August 2024, on a hot summer day. There were many visitors, but the organisation was exceptional – shade, refreshments, children’s games and much more.
The exhibition itself was extremely well organised and presented a wide range of horticultural products, innovations and the latest trends in horticulture.
In addition to the many exhibitors, there were also expert workshops and lectures, which further enriched the visitor’s experience and gave an insight into the future of horticulture.
I am impressed by how the Germans have turned a degraded area into a park that is not only aesthetically sophisticated, but also functional for the surrounding residents and visitors to the city, which is only about 20 km from Munich.
The park itself is extremely extensive and offers something for everyone – those who like landscaped areas will find beautiful plantings of perennials, avenues and trees that create pleasant shade, while those who are more attracted to natural and somewhat wild plantings will also find something to their liking.
The exhibition also showcased a number of companies with sample plantings for front gardens, garden houses, atrium gardens and larger areas planted with shrubs, trees and perennials.
Particular emphasis was placed on hardy and perennial plants, which is clearly key to the long-term maintenance of these areas.
The youngest visitors are catered for with a large children’s playground, including various wooden toys, climbing frames, boats and water games – a real little oasis of fun.
Freja enjoyed it to the full!
Bavarian Regional Horticultural Exhibition – Kirchheim 2024
Kirchheim 2024 is the Bavarian Regional Horticultural Exhibition, which takes place this year from 15. May to 6. October 2024 in Kirchheim near Munich. Under the slogan “Grow together” the exhibition brings together urban development and the creation of new green spaces on more than 100,000 square metres of open space. The event includes a daily programme for all ages, including nature, culture, sport, play and cuisine. Around 90 exhibitors will be present to showcase innovative ideas on garden design, landscape architecture, nature conservation and climate. The exhibition is designed around five natural spheres – forest, garden, wilderness, water and meadow – offering a variety of themed gardens, children’s play areas, cultural events and relaxation areas. Visitors can also enjoy a wide range of interactive activities and taste local produce from the orchards and bushes. We always strive for continuous education and visits to international fairs or exhibitions to keep in touch with modern trends and horticultural innovations. And we weave all this into Pro Horto Strgar projects – your dream gardens. Welcome to our garden centre!
